I agree with =thetopcrusader, what differentiates this from other spirals is the strong contrast between red and white, when other spirals contrast in monochrome.

The chandelier is distracting, though not a fault of your own. It does provide a sense of symmetry for each loop, and given the title it could be considered as a Q-tip!

If I were you though, I would retake the photo again and make use of the window. It would have been really interesting if there was some sort of action going on there and would certainly put the "twist" in this spiral photo.

But as is, it's a fine photo.

This is just beautiful excellence at its finest. I've seen so many shots with this "spiral" theme, but this one is definitely unique, even if it does feel a bit familiar. The first thing I noticed was the red - it definitely stands out amidst the more neutral whites, greys, and beiges featured prominently throughout the shot. Even if this photo was in greyscale, it would still be amazing, but the red really does produce a certain dramatic effect that helps the stairs contrast even more starkly with the white negative space around the "ear." The amount of detail is also beautiful - the leading line of the chandelier draws the viewer's eyes to take in everything this photo captures. Overall, this is a striking, gorgeous capture. Beautiful work!
